Condrieu Clos Chanson
Condrieu Clos Chanson är ett lyxigt och hedonistiskt vin, lite kryddigare i stilen än Chéry. Även här hittar vi stor frukt och en påtaglig mineralitet som ger fräschör och elegans, men som sagt med en annan terroir vilket återspeglar sig med en distinkt skillnad i glaset.
Clos Chanson består av granitjordar och är som namnet antyder en muromgärdad vingård, det är 1,13 hektar, som utgör själva hjärtat i den bästa delen av vingårdsläget Chanson. Det ligger strax norr om Chavanay, i den södra delen av appellationen. Muren byggdes ursprungligen för att skydda ett medeltida slott som numera ligger i ruiner, emedan muren finns kvar än idag.
André Perret har arrenderat Clos Chanson ända sedan 1986, och 2023 fick han slutligen möjlighet att köpa vingården. Den planterades 1960, och det är naturligtvis uteslutande viognier.
Jäsningen sker på stora ekliggare, och vinet får därefter vila i 12 månader på 300-litersfat, huvudsakligen från Tonnellerie Dargaud & Jaeglé, inga nya fat. Det genomgår alltid malolaktisk jäsning, vilket ger ökad komplexitet och mjukare textur.
Totalt produceras ca 2 000 flaskor per år.
Servera till smakrika rätter av fisk, skaldjur och kyckling. En underbar matchning är med hummer thermidor där den stora frukten i vinet möter det lilla stinget av hetta från cayennepepparn på ett härligt sätt.

The Wine Advocate - 94+ p - "A bit tighter in style than the expansive, flowery 2018, the 2019 Condrieu Clos Chanson adds pineapple and citrus notes to the ripe apricot flavors. It's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and focused, with a long, mouthwatering finish. An intense flavor ride, it should drink well for several more years."
Vinous - 95-96 p - "Diaphanous yellow. Intense, mineral-accented scents of fresh pear, white peach and violet take on a citrus pith nuance with air. Silky and tightly focused on entry, then deeper on the mid-palate, offering sappy, mineral-driven orchard, pit fruit and Meyer lemon flavors that show noteworthy tension and floral lift. Closes with impressive, spicy persistence, repeating florality and vibrant mineral cut."
Decanter - 94 p - "Great purity on the nose, some pear along with the apricot fruit. Lightly floral. Full-bodied, but only just, with enough deep-set acidity to bring balance and freshness. Neatens up and slims down to a tapered finish. A neat, fresh, drinkable style, very measured and harmonious. Oak is well integrated and not excessive."

Jeb Dunnuck - 95 p - "More grilled peach, honeyed orange, and toasted nuances emerge from the 2020 Condrieu Clos Chanson, another juicy, lively, vibrant Condrieu from this estate. Medium to full-bodied and concentrated, it has a touch more density and depth than the classic cuvée, and possibly a touch more volume than the Chery at this point."
John Learmonth-Livingstone - 4,5/5 - "Shiny yellow; has a grilled top air, with herbs, quince fruit – this nose is up and running. The palate streams along, bears soft gras richness, coasts well, a fine feel to it, the length good, discreet. Its togetherness works well, no false steps are there, good flow, with gentle build on the close."

Framed by soft acidity, it offers fragrant white peach, pear, quince, banana, spring blossom and apricot aromatics. Concentrated and round, the 2022 ends with drive on the exuberant finish. John Learmonth-Livingstone - 4,5/5 - "Clear yellow, wee green tinted robe; the bouquet has a charming air led by lime, white peach, is bonny, inviting. The palate serves really silken gras, has fab discretion and appeal, develops tannin tang and firmness from three-quarters of the way. The attack is most beautiful; it’s very pretty, also has late control. It offers much texture appeal. Drink from 2024 to 2034."
